Susan Follett

St Paul, MN
Author of THE FOG MACHINE, an exploration of prejudice, set against the backdrop of the Civil Rights Movement, from 1954 to 1964, through the eyes of a 12-year-old white girl, a young black woman who’s left Mississippi for Chicago, and a Chicago law student and Jewish Freedom Summer volunteer from New York City. Lives collide as each person questions what freedom means and the price they’ll pay to have it.

Talk to me about how THE FOG MACHINE has been used by Mississippi’s McComb High and Washington’s The Overlake School as a shared language for talking about civil rights history and race.

Talk to me about using THE FOG MACHINE in book groups, diversity forums, community reads, high schools, and colleges.

I am especially interested in talking with young people, educators, and leaders of diversity forums and meeting people who have read and contributed to THE FOG MACHINE.
