Mia is an educator and social justice activist who has launched multiple leadership development initiatives throughout her career.  In addition to her work at the Arcus Center for Social Justice Leadership, Mia also facilitates justice + equity trainings, serves as a consultant and adviser to activists, and leads Civil Rights tour experiences for groups of all ages throughout the U.S. Deep South.  

Mia specializes in organizational development and leadership coaching.  She regularly develops and leads trainings in anti-oppression frameworks and practices, intergenerational organizing, and value-based strategies for groups in the education, philanthropy, and nonprofit sectors.
Mia is also a veteran educator with teaching experience in high schools and universities, specializing in the fields of youth development and 20th Century world history. Mia has traveled extensively, studying civic education and social movement history in South Africa, Estonia, and Southeast Asia, and trying to learn Spanish in Mexico, Costa Rica, Peru, Argentina and Guatemala.

Mia approaches all of her work with reverence to ancestors and elders, respect for young people, and social movement history as a key reference point.
